Manages overall plant efforts to assure consistent, economical, and timely flow of both purchased and raw materials to support the manufacturing efforts of the facility to meet the customers needs and expectations by performing duties personally or through subordinate supervisors and/or support personnel. PRINCIPAL DUTIES: 1. Manages the Purchasing, Shipping / Receiving and Inventory Control functions. 2. Coordinates with Manufacturing and Contract Engineering to assure that materials are on site in a timely manner to facilitate speedy and accurate parts availability to meet customer demands. 3. Develops budget and manpower requirements for the Inventory Control, Shipping/Receiving and Purchasing Departments. 4. Works with Supply Chain Management to identify and qualify Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, work with Quality to set up and maintain vendor quality acceptance processes. 5. Establish and maintain Kan Ban systems to assure on demand flow of materials to the Manufacturing floor. 6. Handles daily issues in support of production needs such as expediting material, setting priorities, and addressing issues. 7. Establish and manage consignment programs for materials and blanket purchasing agreements for commodity items. 8. Manage Transportation contracts both in:bound and out:bound to assure Customer needs are satisfied. 9. Coordinate all off site inventory locations. 10. Coordinate the scheduling and inventory movement of all outside processing operations. 11. Develops and manages an aggressive Purchased Material Cost Reduction Program for both Raw Materials and Purchased Parts. 12. Responsible for on:going aggressive cost reduction efforts. 13. Responsible for the replacement of broken equipment. 14. Maintains production levels at the lowest possible cost by using proper methods and manpower to ensure efficiency. 15. Ensures that all warehouse operations are on schedule.
REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Bachelors degree in an appropriate field of study with four (4) to six (6) years experience in a warehouse, manufacturing or production area with materials management experience. Normal mechanical and analytical ability is a must. Must be able to analyze and interpret complex technical procedures, business periodicals, and journals as well as write reports and procedure manuals. In the absence of a 4:year degree in an appropriate field of study, this position requires an additional ten (10) years of related experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) as well as Internet software and E:mail is required. Extended knowledge of Mapics, MRP and fourth shift experience is preferable. May be required to travel 20 of the time.
